Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Therapy

Regenerative Orthopedics

Tired of using NSAIDs and risking ulcers? Chronically using addictive narcotics to relieve pain only to deal with their side effects which include constipation, altered sleep patterns and decreased testosterone levels? Have you tried steroid or visco-supplementation injections with little long term success? Perhaps it’s time to consider stem cells or PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy.

Up until recently, there has not been many options to attempt to replace damaged cells and potentially restore normal function to various body systems. Well, the future is now. Our Regenerative Medicine technique avoids the use of fetal tissue, umbilical cord blood and focuses on your body’s own adipose tissue or bone marrow. The fat stores we all have just under the skin around the thighs, buttocks, lower back or flank are harvested (mini-liposuction) and the stem cells within those tissues (adipose or bone marrow) are processed thus increasing the concentration of these special cells. They are reinjected back into your body where damage or pain has occurred. Once there, these cells and their chemical messengers are thought to work towards restoring function and/or reducing pain by rebuilding cartilage or tissue.

Our “in-office” same day technique follows approved protocols ideally suited for your specific orthopedic needs. The use of stem cells or PRP might be an option for those patients who are too young for artificial joint replacement or too ill to undergo these large, invasive surgeries. Sometimes other pain relieving modalities such as medications by mouth, injections or physical therapy have already been tried and have failed to provide any measure of relief. If this is you, stem cell therapy might just be the answer!
